|Hello all! I don't use these forums often, but I'm hoping you can help me out with my current dilemma.
TL; DR: Looking for a decent laptop under $1,400 (ideally less) that will run WoW and other games at moderate+ graphics without getting overly hot or loud. It needs to also be light enough to keep on my lap for hours at a time with a screen suitable for digital art. Thoughts on HP Envy with Intel® Core™ i7-8550U Processor at 1.8GHz, 16GB RAM, 1TB HD, 4GB NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics, and 17.3" IPS display?
As for the long version...
I've been using an HP Envy for nearly 2 years. It has Intel i7, 12GB RAM, 1TB HD, and onboard Intel graphics. It's been fine for almost all my gaming needs and has ran WoW at 4-5 graphics, Sims 4, Civ VI, HotS, etc. I'm not saying it runs anything at ultra settings, but the graphics have been good enough to enjoy playing and I've averaged 30-40fps in WoW which has been fine for me. However, a lot of games don't support the onboard Intel graphics (which I understand are basically crap) and some games crash so often I can't play them (Planet Coaster). WoW was fine until a couple months ago when my computer started randomly bluescreening while I was playing. As per the code I'm getting on the blue screen, it's due to my graphics card. (Which I've since learned is technically not compatible with WoW.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
